Hey! I’m not sure how many of you know me, but I’m @AllysonE (Allyson) - I’ve been on wikiHow for over 5 years now. For several years, I worked as part of our international team at the wikiHaus, helping to get all the great advice you guys share translated into multiple languages for readers all over the world. After a two-year-long hiatus from the wikiHaus, I’m now back and working on our marketing efforts and social media channels. It’s GREAT to be back… and my background on the international team makes this a really fun announcement for me to share!

Turkish wikiHow is now live!

The biggest news at the wikiHaus this week is the launch of our newest international site: Turkish wikiHow . Turkish is spoken by over 85 million people worldwide, so this marks another leap forward in our mission of helping everyone in the world learn how to do anything.

Compared to English and our older international sites, Turkish may be a relatively baby site, but our translation team has been working hard to make sure it gets a solid start. We’ve launched with hundreds of helpful how-to articles localized to the Turkish language and culture.

Some examples:

Prior to the launch of Turkish, wikiHow was already available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Czech, Indonesian, Japanese, Arabic, Thai, Korean, and Vietnamese. Collectively, wikiHow’s international sites offer tens of thousands of how-to articles to millions of readers across our 17 non-English sites each month… and we recently reached a big milestone, with over 50% of wikiHow’s traffic now coming from our international projects. That’s pretty epic for our worldwide mission!

The international sites wouldn’t be what they are without all the great seeds you guys sow here on English, so pat yourselves on the back. I hope you’ll be as excited about this new addition to the wikiHow family as we are:slight_smile:

Hi Allyson, This is such a great news. “Tebrikler”

Stoked about this - and not only because we’re having a little party with Turkish treats at the wikiHaus tomorrow afternoon:slight_smile:- wish you could all join us!

Lots of people have been working really hard to make this launch a reality, but a special shout-out to @AdrianaBaird , @Sevde-Kaldiroglu , and @Albur for all the time they’ve put into the project. It’s pretty great to see it live and ready to thrive!

Have fun everyone.

Oh my god. I had a pen pal in Turkey who said he wanted wikiHow to be in Turkish. He will be excited!

Stoked!!!

Wow! May I request wikiHow in Aramaic and Ancient Egyptian? :’)

I don’t speak Turkish, but I’m glad to hear that there is now a wikiHow version in it!

Haha @Batreeq , we’ll get right on that, after we launch Klingon:wink:

[Clarification for anyone unsure: Nope, these are not happening. lol.]

Nice @MattheusG   - glad your friend will have access to all the help out there… including pages you’ve helped edit, no doubt:smiley:

So cool! Nice work Allyson, and to everyone involved. It’s amazing to spread our international reach even further:slight_smile:

Hey Allyson, welcome back! Nice; keep growing this in many different languages!

Adelaide

This is really cool. As a Turkish person, the translating is well done. I can easily understand it. Thanks for making WikiHow Turkish. I hope it’ll help Turkish people to learn easily.

Congratulations to the entire International team who has been anxiously awaiting the go-live date for Turkish wikiHow! All your hard work has paid off, and it looks great!

It’s really exciting to see wikiHow make progress toward our ambitious mission, and expanding our international presence is a huge piece of that.

Congrats team! So exciting to see how wikiHow progresses more and more!
Welcome back @Allyson to the cul-team.

@Anna Save some of those treats for the meetup crew! They might be a little old in 8 months time but hey. :P

Also so that would be a no to the Latin or -Googles dead languages- Wappo speaking wikiHows? :((

:smiley:And after all these languages are covered and the treats are done, will there be the Yes I read the article tab on the Turkish ones?

Bir araya gelmek bir başlangıç; bir arada kalabilmek ilerleme; işbirliği ise başarıdır. Thanks!

Thanks! Teşekkürler.

So excited about finally launching the Turkish site! A huge shoutout to our amazing Turkish translation team and the international team!!

Aww, thanks for the warm welcome back everyone! Another quick shout out @Sevde-Kaldiroglu and the authenticTurkish coffee she brewed for the Haus to celebrate… wish we could have shared with the whole community! Next best thing ?

( @Anna must have loved the props(Turkish coffee)!) Don’t know much about Turkish - except that there is a language, but it’s great to know it’s here for those to learn too.
