I tried to view a speedy article that i saw a link to but got a message that said I had to be logged in to view the page. Not sure if it had anything to do with it being a speedy or not but was wondering a bit about the rationale behind being unable to view it.

That’s normal for any article that’s not indexed - ie a demoted/not-yet-promoted article or an article with a “bad” template indicating it needs more work. Those topics won’t show in search, either, and the combo of that and the log-in requirement is how we make sure readers don’t stumble upon the unhelpful stuff and take advice from it, or think it’s something we’d suggest they follow as quality advice. It helps readers be more confident in our articles and trust us to provide helpful advice - after all, we wouldn’t want them stumbling upon a speedy, thinking it’s something we all support, and then sharing it on Twitter or sending it to their friends and what-not. That kind of thing used to happen quite a bit, back in the dark days before we had the new NAB system that we do now:slight_smile:
