I tried uploading some new images for an article (How to Get an Autistic Person to Eat, I believe) and ran into some trouble. I was in Advanced Edit.

First, it showed me some Flickr images. When I tried to click to get it to go to the local file, it didn’t respond. I tried clicking some more times and eventually it worked.

After that, when I selected my image and tried to upload it, I got the following error message:

I haven’t done anything weird with my folder; it’s the same as it always has been. The file is in PNG format like most of mine are. So I’m pretty sure it’s not a problem on my end.

Weird! I was able to upload a few images just now without an error, but perhaps this is an intermittent one. Have you tried  https://www.wikihow.com/Special:Upload and is that doing the same thing for you, or is it just within the edit window?

I’d agree that it’s intermittent. I’m working on an update to Teach an Autistic College Student, and it’s usually letting me upload now, although sometimes being slow and strange. Now I’d describe it as “confusing but functional.”

Hah, good description - okay, I’ll file this report and see if anyone on the code side can make sense of the confusion.

I think we might have an engineering project on the horizon to simplify the “Easy (not so easy) Image Uploader” soon, anyway, to avoid some of the confusion that people experience just from its outdated and over-complicated design (eg removing some of the outdated layout details, and perhaps taking out the Flickr search, since it’s pretty rickety and doesn’t provide good image matches most of the time). Sooooo, if nothing else, hopefully at that point we can do a bunch of testing to make sure this error isn’t coming up anymore! I’ll get it filed either way. Thanks Luna:slight_smile:

One of our engineers, Drew, hopped online to address some slowness issues we were having today… so now I’m thinking that this upload issue might have been temporary and related to that. Let’s hope it’s all gone now! If you see it again, though, do let me know.

It seems fine now. Thanks!

Great - hopefully it stays that way!
