I joined wikihow 5-6 months back. And here’s this bug- whenever i get that ‘New Talk page message’ on top of my screen, It leads to an empty user page of some user called ‘Mom’. The catch is that this ‘Mom’ joined in 2008! And in the discussion page of my article, ’ Stop eating ice-cream’, the credit is given to the non-existent ‘Mom’. And when i first said this to Illneedasaviour , he also said that the message which says ‘Rising star’ was supposed to go to me, instead it went to that ‘Mom’. I’m sure there’s a user name confusion here, and that user ‘Mom’ doesn’t even exist, probably. And this has been happening ever since I had joined here. The thing that bothers me the most is that when the credit of creating the boosted article ‘Stop eating ice-cream’ goes to ‘Mom’.
Your username is the issue here. For some reason, the apostrophe breaks the system. Ask Jack or Krystle for a name change
Silly Mom’s_Gal. All Moms get credit for what their Gals do.
I experienced a similar problem. I got a message in my user talk from some user and when i visited that user’s talk page, it was blank. No welcome message too. It was probably an user which was not created. But @Krystle
figured out that the message was actually sent to me by some other person, but the name that appeared on my user talk was different.
Ghost users on wikiHow ! Omg … now that’s annoying when your article 's credit goes to some ghost.
So, Mom took all the credit? Well, even though I have a wikiTwin… will that affect the system? If you don’t understand, here: http://www.wikihow.com/User:Sappires
<- Me http://www.wikihow.com/User:Sapphires
<- wikiTwin Ned already got confused… is this a problem? Just wondering
^ Also happens with Maddie’s page too. Tiagoroth’s right, it’s because of the Forums with certain letters, numbers or signs.

That’s just because someone created an account with a nearly identical username. No glitch there.
Oh, thanks wikiRicardo! Sapp
That violates our username policy. I have notified the other user.
Are you sure? The names are likely distinctive in meaning and the Users have conversed happily.
I was about to say, neither user appears to be suffering for the similarity, nor did either one seem to copy off the other.
Indeed. Since a sapphire is a type of gem, I’m fairly certain the similarity is not of malicious intent.
Okay, I may be wrong but this is what the username policy says:_Names that closely resemble or are easily confused with current editors._I thought the username resembled the other one but can be confused. It is not of malicious intent but to avoid confusion, it could be changed to something non-similar.

I’ll change it but…I really like my username. It’s perfect for me. But if the community disapproves then I’ll change it.
After talking to my admin-mentors and reading messages posted by Dave, ISMKW and Ricardio, I think you can keep your username.
