Just because it says “admin” in their username doesn’t mean they’re implying admin status on wikiHow, are they? I came across a user named “Nnadmin” and it seems that they are called that because they happened to be an admin of a website called nonotes.com I know in the username policy it says that you can’t have a username that implies admin status, but does it have to be for any website, or just wikiHow?

That’s true. But someone already left them a {{username}}. Should I remove that message on their talk page?

No, they may be confused about that and maybe you should clarify.

I think you can should be able to have admin in a username.

That’s where you’re wrong since have a look at the username policy

Well, the username policy says that it can’t implyadmin status, so no “Admin123” or “Sysop88”. So the question is, does the username say, “Oh, look I’m a sysop” (figuratively of course)

No, I meant if it was for me you could have admin in your username. And I refuse to read a policy. Unless I am getting guaranteed payment, then no.

Ouch. Since872011: This is “labor of love” volunteer work- not a job. Reading policy will only make you a more productive editor and a possible candidate for promotions and awards. Not reading policy will only make your reputation poor due to constant fumbles during your editing. Ultimately, it is your choice. (On an unrelated note, I have finally grasped the Deletion Policy, but the Title Policy’s meaning still evades me.)

I haven’t read any policies in their entireties, but I’ve picked up large chunks from other users. Welcome back, TheMartian.

Thanks.

LOL.:stuck_out_tongue:This is Facebook?? XD

-grins- Nah… I was just feeling too lazy at the time to type something like “Well said!”

On an entirely unrelated note, just give me a shout out, @TheMartian , if you want any help with this.

I’d leave them a personal note detailing why they need to change their username. From what you’ve described, it seems like a good faith user, but the “admin” in the name could confuse users who are “out of the know” per se.

Willing ignorance regarding policies is not a formula for success on wikiHow.
