If you try to change the category to the one of your choice in the Video Picker, it should accept that choice and go by articles in just the category. However, it does not. If you click the “(Change Options)” hyperlink, it adds a hashtag to the end of the tool’s URL, therefore making it look like http://www.wikihow.com/Special:Videoadder#
. Then, if you pick a category of your choice from the drop-down, whether you removed the hashtag before doing so or not, the Video Picker just refreshes and the drop-down ignores your choice and resets back to “All”, as you can see when you go back to check if your choice was accepted.

I tested it out and it seemed fine for me. However, in the past on another account, after I do at least 10 videos, it does reset to All again.
^ Ah. You also have the reset problems, too, but occasionally. I added a clarification to point out that upon the reset of the drop-down happening, the Video Picker refreshes.

I tried this out and it seemed to work consistently for me at the moment - once I pick a category, I’m seeing the ?cat=Arts%20and%20Entertainment addition to the URL, and seeing only articles in that category. Perhaps it depends on browser or another factor, though. Can you let me know more about your browser and maybe provide a screencast? Thanks!
@Anna
I do see that when I first click that category from the drop-down, but when I click the “(Change Options)” hyperlink again to pick a different category, it adds the hashtag to the end of the URL, just like when you do not have a particular category selected, and the drop-down is shown to have reset back to “All”. I show that in the below screencast, which you may wish to expand to the full screen view on your end.
As for the browser and the operating system, it is the same as it has been. Google Chrome on Windows 7.

Am I right in thinking that the actual selection is working, just the drop-down menu is resetting to the default All? It looks like the actual articles you’re getting are in the right categories that you picked? It seems like maybe the menu isn’t designed to show the current category when you click Change Options a second time, but the actual selection of articles/videos is keeping up as it should. If so, this is probably a smaller display issue, rather than a bigger tool functioning one, but still worth knowing about!
@Anna
Yeah. That looks like it could be it. The tool does seem to be functioning as it should, but I still think that the drop-down should not be resetting like that. What I think that it should do is show the category that you picked when you go back to check if your choice was accepted. Otherwise, it could be confusing to people, in my opinion.

Ok, thanks for checking on that - just helps with prioritizing the issues, since we’re in a constant engineering time crunch. Thanks for the heads-up about the menu issue!
@Anna
No problem. I will continue to be on the look-out for possible bugs.
