Since there’s not already a thread for this, I decided to start one.:slight_smile:(Who knows if this will work out or not?) Any violinists or string players (or people who like strings) can post here about virtually any topic.

Anyway…

I LOVE playing the violin!:smiley:I started playing last year when I took once a week lessons with a group of other complete beginners. I’m in my school orchestra this year and have learned so much! I managed to goad my parents to buy me a violin (around March) and I’m starting private lessons soon.:wink:AND I GOT INTO CHAMBER ORCHESTRA FOR NEXT YEAR! (Woo!)

But that’s my musical journey in a nutshell. =D

:o Sweet! I do not play much violin, but I do play a decent amount of fiddle. I’ve been playing it for around 9 years now and like bluegrass, Celtic, and other stuff.:smiley:

I also play some guitar and mandolin, and also piano and cajon, though those may not be grouped with the stringed instruments.:slight_smile:

Being maybe the instrument with the most repertoire other than that of the piano; there’s lots of avenues to explore. There’s well-known violinists of the past like Corelli, Vivaldi, Le Clair, Mozart, Paganini, etc. I don’t play myself, but have a number of violin concerti and other violin-oriented items in my CD collection, as well as orchestral items.

I have always loved Listening to The Violin and the Cello specially in solo. The sound makes my heart resonate and feel my skin and spine tremble at times. To me it’s one of the instruments that in the hands of a talented cellist it’s able to transverse sound energy that excite feelings and emotion…I’m a big fan of Yo-Yo-Ma
