How can I get around not being able to use templates? I want to use the {{temp}} template to teach somebody how to put an inuse tag on an article, but it didn’t work. I tried nowiki tags, but that didn’t work either.
I seem to have gotten around it by doing “{inuse} (two braces),” but it might confuse some people. Can the temp template be made OK for the welcome wagon?

It’s probably easiest just to send your message outside of the welcome wagon since the messages being sent in the welcome wagon generally wouldn’t include any templates.

No problem! I’m definitely not saying we can’t explore allowing {{temp}}, but the purpose of the welcome wagon is generally to keep the message positive and welcome the person, rather than provide coaching where you’d be using {{temp}}. Just my two cents.

Got it! (also, the reason I was using temp was that somebody created an article and added “Do not edit” to the end of it. I wanted to tell that person that they can add inuse to it :).
That’s me trying to use the {{howto}} from the Welcome Wagon. Once I try to post it, I realize that from the Welcome Wagon, I need to write it out manually as [[…|How to…]].
