I need help, because I have no clue what it means to bump a thread… Please help… thanks…

Sorry… I am new to wikihow… idk what it means

Bumping a thread means to comment on a really old thread (maybe around three weeks old? I don’t know because I’m kinda fuzzy with the rules right now :P) that no one has commented on in a while. This results in the thread to be “bumped” up in the category of threads to the top, and burying in the newer and more popular threads in the category are pushed down. Basically, if you bump a lot of threads, you can’t see the current threads as easily and it’ll cause a lot of clutter.

Let me know if this doesn’t make sense, and I’ll clarify!

Oh oh! I know *puts hand up*

Bumping a thread is basically when you view and comment on an old thread that hasn’t been used in weeks. The thread then moves to the top of the forum. Since active threads stay on the front of the forum, it’s where they belong. Then, when the old thread moves to the top, an active thread will be “bumped down” from the active list, which isn’t a good thing, since some threads are important.

Hopefully that helps:slight_smile:

^ So basically, that post was a minor thread bump, since the thread had been left alone for 6 days and then was posted in, bringing it to the top. Sometimes people will bump threads that are years old… but that doesn’t happen too often. Generally, if the thread hasn’t been active in over a week, it’s a better idea not to post in it - it tends to make active threads sink, like mentioned above twice.

Yeah woops. Sorry @Galatic-Radiance . I didn’t realise I was bumping this thread (and I’m doing it again). Won’t happen again.
