I have found since I moved to a desk type setup instead of working on the couch (sitting with my dogs), that I am getting less done. It’s a problem I am still trying to figure out. How about others?

A more relaxed environment increases productivity or so I’ve found. You’re relaxed and more in place on your couch with your dogs. It could also be that if you have specific locations on your body that pain, sitting in a chair could annoy you more so than having the flexibility of laying down or softness a couch does.

Tis true, lol. But I also agree with Tiagoroth on the other one as well. It has to be your nerves/bones or something and your mind adapts to a “relaxed” and natural place - despite it’s a makeshift table on your couch.

I edit in my bed. I think Tia’s right, I am super comfortable there, and I get *a lot* done than on my computer. I only go to my computer to archive and change my profile pic. June Days

I’m actually the opposite of you guys. I’m more productive on a desktop computer than a laptop. Most of the time I’m on my laptop while watching TV, so I get distracted. Also I find it easier to do things like NAB using a mouse instead of a touchpad.

Well aside from things like massive writer’s block and general laziness, the fact that I’m most comfortable in something other than a wood chair at a wood desk and my laptop battery is almost dead don’t exactly mesh well to create a great editing space. If somebody’d like to chip in for a nice office chair for me, or a new laptop battery.

I ALWAYS buy a keyboard and mouse for my laptops!!!

I’ve been much less productive recently, and for me it’s because I can’t sleep at night and during the day my mind is exhausted. It definitely helps to listen to music for me.

When I had insomnia, 200 NAB days were the average!

I have insomnia. It sucks. But normally I can’t edit that well if there is noise around me.

I like to edit in the morning, when everybody is still asleep. Don’t know why. I also listen to music while writing articles. http://kjos.vo.llnwd.net/o28/mp3/W22CD2/cabo_rico.mp3 http://kjos.vo.llnwd.net/o28/mp3/W22CD2/rudimental_regiment.mp3 http://kjos.vo.llnwd.net/o28/mp3/W22CD2/summers_rain.mp3 http://kjos.vo.llnwd.net/o28/mp3/W22CD2/french_market.mp3 ^ songs I listen to while writing

it just occurred to me…My desktop doesn’t have sound. That could be part of it too. My speakers fell off the table while attached to it. No sound since then!:frowning:

^ Yeah, LOL…Dat’s not fun.:slight_smile:June Days

Having my phone on the charger with 7% battery…Stupid short cords!

I work in my bedroom, no one else in the room and I am lying on my bed doing it. I have a very small bedroom though, there isn’t much space and there is a lot of noise outside it, my sisters playing or my dad watching TV at a high volume (though he turns it down whenever I ask). I have problems with stress, my sisters are mischievous and always getting into trouble with my dad, dad shouts at them and things are not nice. Even if I’m in my bedroom, it’s hard to avoid the things going on outside my bedroom door. Listening to music helps with this but I tend to get distracted by it and that causes problems but at least I am in no rush to get things done… no need to rush anyway:slight_smile:I sometimes continue my work when I am in the library which I go to often and it is very quiet there with only a few people around. So being in a relaxed environment helps a lot!
