I just added new related wikiHows to  wikihow.com/Stay-Sane-Sheltering-in-Place  in order to better reflect the coronavirus situation and share some relevant titles. But they’re not showing up.

I’ve also seen instances of the sidebar related wikiHows not matching the related wikiHows shown at the bottom (thus often being about unrelated topics), and of chosen related wikiHows being displayed at the bottom instead of the top list of the recommendations.

Does anyone know what’s going on here? Are the programmers experimenting with something?

Yep, it’s definitely a bug. I just tried to fix it, and it looks like there is definitely something wrong with the related wikiHows section. I tried to fix it by removing and then readding the categories to try to force the article to display the manually added related wikiHows, but that just cause some weird formatting issues in the related wikiHows section. The article looks normal now, but it’s still refusing to display the manually added related wikiHows.

Thanks for trying.

I feel like “How to Survive an Apocalypse,” the current #1 related wikiHow, is probably not the best option during the coronavirus panic.

Thanks for letting us know, and for trying to figure it out. It looks like there are 2 issues here, so the team are going to look into it.

All issues here have been fixed - in some cases it was only taking articles from the category, but is now back to using the related wikiHows that are in the wikitext. The formatting has also been corrected so they show up correctly. Thanks!
