Hi!

I haven´t used Wikihow in a few months and because I wanted to write an article I came back to it.

To make the article more interesting I wanted to use some pictures, but I can´t upload any pictures anymore for some reason. I tried to click on the “Add Image” function you have when you write an article, and then I actually can choose a picture from my computer, but it says that the image is protected all the time, even if I created the picture, and I can´t proceed.

When I go to the instruction on how to write an article and click on the link to the page to upload pictures to Wikihow so that other people can use them, too, I get the message that I´m not authorized to do this and only people who belong to the Groups „Bots, Administratoren, staff, translator“ !

Maybe it’s important to note that (if you haven´t already concluded it from my bad English!) that I am from German and therefore use the German Wikihow, but I don´t think that has anything to do with it.

Heya @Marie-Schwan !

For the moment, image uploading outside the English site is limited, as an anti-spam measure. But you can still use images uploaded here on the English site on German articles. To do that, go to  https://www.wikihow.com/Special:Upload to upload, apply the correct license there (making sure you’ve confirmed that they’re licensed in a way that’s okay to use here), and then you can copy the image tag text to an article on the German site (or any other site).

Our international team is working on solutions to get image uploading access for good faith contributors without opening it up to spammers, though, so I’ll send you an email to connect you with the German project manager. She may have a more straightforward option for you! Watch your inbox for that email:slight_smile:
