Every single day on wikiHow, I see new members who have joined.  Some are ordinary members who just want to help/contribute, while others are businesses.

These businesses who have joined hardly contribute at all.  If they do, it’s usually advertisement articles.

On their user pages, they advertise on the “About Me” section too.  I’m starting to think that they only join to advertise and leave, never contributing.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that all businesses who join have this behavior.  I’m sure that some do contribute and share what they know in their field.

Do any of you know what’s going on?  Plus, do you think these types of “About Me” sections (that include advertisement) should be removed?

It’s just spammers. Their user pages don’t show up in search engines. Just ignore them:slight_smile:

because spammers and vandals will always exist.

I agree. I have seen more spammy articles than usual on here. As Alex said just ignore them and thy will leave.

Yeah, it’s just user page spam with no intent at other contributions to our site. Just ignore them:slight_smile:

The fact that I just deleted a spam post in this thread is oddly ironic

+1

Probably a great ideo to ignore them.

I don’t think we need to have the exact same advice restated multiple times by multiple people…

Yes, we should have this discussion closed.

I agree.

Sorry.
