I’m not entirely sure if this is the right place for this post, however I’m putting it here anyway. The wikiHow app could benefit from contributor tools being added. It doesn’t need to have full article editing capabilities, but some simple tools like the RCP would be nice for the on-the-go wikiHow contributor. I understand the website has mobile features, but it’s not always very user-friendly.

That would be a neat step one day - although, the Android app already has some tools, so the option is there for Android users! I don’t think we have any plans to make that kind of big update to our iPhone app any time soon (it works differently from the Android one, so the updates would likely mean a giant overhaul, not just simple additions to the code). I’m glad you’ve found the mobile site in the meantime - if you prefer it, there’s also the option of switching to the desktop site, even on a mobile device (though it can be a bit finicky to use, so proceed with caution). I can share with the team that more iPhone-easy editing is something you’d be interested in. Never say never, so maybe one day we’ll be able to support that:slight_smile:

@Anna Where’s the login option?

None on iPhone but I believe there is one on Android. Certainly there’s tool use (maybe it’s anonymous, though?). I don’t have that phone though - can anyone help WF out?

As far as I can tell, there’s no login option on Android, which is weird, because you can patrol recent changes on Android, so I’m not sure how that works.

Ah gotya - sounds like it’s anon-only then. I probably was told that at some point and have forgotten in my iPhone world:wink:If the user isn’t logged in, they won’t be actually patrolling (you can check the logs to verify) - just previewing the mobile RC tool without making page changes. I’ll try to look into this this week, if I can borrow an Android or dive back into documentation from when we released the app, and let you know if I’ve got that wrong. But we do allow anons on mobile to preview certain tools without actually making changes, so it sounds like a similar deal. For now, I’d just assume that it’s only making votes/edits that anons would be able to make on the live site, sort of like a preview mode for what you can do on the full site. The apps are really more reader-focused than editing-focused at this stage. Might change one day but if you want all the bells and whistles, for now I’d go with the full mobile or desktop sites:slight_smile:
