wikiTutor is a team/project that was founded over a year ago. Its goal was help improve the grammar of contributors on wikiHow. Through the time wikiTutor has existed, it has gone through many refinements as we have discovered more and more of what it takes to make this team successful. So, I present to you all update 3.0 of wikiTutor
.

Some highlights of this update:
*No more sign-up page for authors who need help. Now, authors just contact tutors directly from the tutor list. *New IRC channel.Since tutoring is now going to be done almost entirely in IRC, I have made the wikiTutor IRC channel a bit less confusing. The channel is now #wikiHow/wikiTutor
. *A few minor category adjustments.If you’d like to be a tutor or if you need to be tutored on English grammar, check out the instructions here: http://wikihow.com/wikiHow:WikiTutor
Good work
The wikiTutor and the grammar project will certainly help raise the quality of articles.

Who will be manning the IRC channel 24/7 ?
I’m there about 6-10 hours every day. =P June Days
Maybe some of the #wikiHow
channel regulars can?

You might want to check with them BEFORE you create the new channel? Just an idea.
^ Too late; this is an independent project. wR, I’ll see what I can do to help.
I can hang out in the room
I didn’t actually “create” the channel. With Freenode, if you join a specific channel, you’re just “there”, and anyone else can join.
^ Yup, it can be registered too, however, not recommended unless you get permission from Jack or Krystle. Anyway, I’m there a lot, I’d be happy to hang out in there! =) June Days
I registered! Can’t wait to help someone through IRC
@JackHerrick
Is it alright if #wikiHow
/wikiTutor is registered?

It’s always best to have the group or volunteers that want to help out monitor the channel themselves rather than the IRC regs as a general group. There’s only a selective number of administrators that reg the #wikiHow
channel alone, so it’s kind of more of a burden if they have to “watch” or babysit yet another channel on their own time

That’s what I was thinking, too. Just joined. Whenever I go to IRC, will go to that channel
I honestly don’t understand IRC well enough to really know what the pros / cons of this would be. So I don’t feel I could help with a decision on this right now. Without knowing anything though, could I suggest that we at least road test a few months of wikiTutor IRC to see if there is enough interest to engage in registration?
^ Good idea. Me and KernelPone know a lot about IRC (Well, I should by now, LOL), we’d be the monitors in there, and, when he’s not there, I should be…

@JackHerrick
I suggest that we go with it being registered. There are many pros, and not many cons. All of our data will be lost every time the channel is emptied (we can’t ask ChanServ to stay, because you need to be registered to do that), somebody else could register it and not let us use it, and it makes it really difficult to have an type of moderation in there. If we don’t like it down the road, it can be dropped in two commands to ChanServ. Please consider that and let me know what you think.
