When I draw a curved line using the curvature pen tool, it automatically draws a straight line between the first and last point of the curves, how do I prevent that?

You have to hold your mouse down when you click to set the second point. Then a 'Bezier' curve will emerge, and you can adjust the way the line bends.

To create a curved line in Photoshop that doesn't end where it started, use the Pen Tool. First, select the Pen Tool and click on the canvas to set a starting point. Move the cursor to another point and click and drag to create the curve. Adjust the handles to control the curvature. Continue adding anchor points to extend the line. You can leave the path open or close it if needed and apply a stroke if desired.

Where do I find the Pen Tool in Photoshop 2007?

In Photoshop CS3 (released in 2007) you can find the Pen Tool in the toolbar on the left side of the screen. It looks like a pen tip and might be hidden under the Path Selection Tool or Shape Tool. To select it, look for the pen tip icon, check for a small arrow at the bottom-right corner of the Shape Tool icon, and click and hold to access a dropdown menu where you can select the Pen Tool. You can also use the shortcut "P" to select it quickly.
