Easily reactivate a deactivated FB profile (with or without Instagram)
PDF download Download Article

Need to get back into a Facebook account you purposefully deactivated? No problem! Reactivating a self-deactivated Facebook account is as simple as logging back into the account. If you've previously deleted your Facebook account, however, it can't be recovered—and if your account was deactivated involuntarily by Facebook, you'll need to submit an appeal to try and get it back. However, in this easy guide, we'll show you how to reactivate your main Facebook account or any additional accounts (and even how to do it from Instagram, if needed).

Reactivating Your Facebook Page

If you disabled the page yourself, you can reactivate it instantly just by logging in with your email address and password. If Facebook suspended your account for violating their community guidelines, log back in and follow the prompts to submit an appeal.

  1. Tap the Facebook app icon (which looks like a white "f" on a dark blue background). Then, tap the "email address or phone number" text box and type in the email address you use to log into Facebook normally. [1]
    • You can also enter your phone number here if you previously added it to your Facebook account.
    • This process is the same, whether you're using an iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
  2. Tap the "Password" text box, then type in the password that you use to log into Facebook.
    • If you don't remember your password, you'll need to reset it before you can continue.

  3. You'll see the blue Log In (or LOG IN on Android) button near the bottom of the page. As long as your email address and password are correctly entered, Facebook should open your account as usual. That's all it takes! This signifies that your Facebook account is no longer deactivated.
    • If you're unable to log in to Facebook using the correct credentials, your account may have been deactivated. Try submitting an appeal to see if you can get your account back.

  1. Go to [2] in your computer's web browser. Then, start logging into your main Facebook account. In the "Email or Phone" text box, type in the email address that you use to log into Facebook. [3]
    • You can also enter your phone number here if you previously added it to your Facebook account.
  2. Do this in the "Password" text box. If you don't remember your password, you'll need to reset it before you can continue.
  3. Look for the blue Log In button to the right of the login section. As long as your email address and password were correctly entered, Facebook should open up your account as usual, and you'll be all set! This signifies that your Facebook account is no longer deactivated.
    • If you can't log into Facebook while using the correct credentials, Facebook has deactivated your account. Try submitting an appeal to see if you can get your account back.

  • Question
What should I do if I can search and see my photos and friends even after I've deleted all of my Facebook data?
    Community Answer
Closing your Facebook account just temporarily disables it rather than permanently deletes it. No one else can see these files, but they remain on the site.
  • Question
After many attempts, I can't open my account and I think it's been hacked. What can I do?
    Community Answer
First, try to change your password. If you still can't access it, create a new account to check for suspicious activity on the other account. If you find something suspicious, contact Facebook directly for help.
  • Question
Once I deactivate my Facebook account, can I reactivate it? Can I recover all of my photos and posts?
    Community Answer
If you log back in within 30 days of when you deactivated the account, you can reactivate it. Check your email for a message from Facebook with details on how to restore your account after you have deactivated it.

      Tips

      • Facebook will not delete your self-deactivated account, so you don't have to worry about reactivating it by a specific time. [8]
      • Rather than deactivating your account for a short period of time, you can simply log out of Facebook on your computer and all of your mobile devices.
      • When your account is deactivated, friends will be able to see your name in their Friends lists, but they won't be able to visit your account.
