  1. Go to reddit.com . This will bring you to Reddit’s homepage. If you haven’t yet signed in, sign in now. [1]
  2. This opens the contents of the thread. [2] To use RemindMeBot, the thread must be active (not archived).

  3. It’s at the bottom of the thread above the comments section. [3]
    • On the mobile app, tap the Add a comment box at the bottom of the screen when viewing a thread.
  4. The syntax for the RemindMeBot post is RemindMe! [TIME] "[MESSAGE]" . [4] For example, you could write RemindMe! Tomorrow "reply to this thread" . In this case, you’re telling RemindMeBot to send you a message tomorrow with the text "reply to this thread." It will also contain a link to the thread.
    • There are other ways to input the time other than tomorrow. Try One Year , August 27th, 2018 , at 6pm , EOY (end of year), and 15 minutes .
    • You can also use RemindMeBot to remind yourself of certain days in history, such as the anniversary of a particular Reddit thread, or on a post about a Redditor’s birthday.
    • Don't forget to use quotes around the message. Also, adding the quoted message is optional.
    • Replace RemindMe! with RemindMeRepeat! to get a recurring message. The time needs to be a set period rather than a date. For example, "1 day" or "Tuesday." [5]
    • You can also post the command Cakeday! to get a reminder each year on your cake day. The command must be the first thing in your comment to work. [6]
  5. This alerts RemindMeBot to set up your automated message. RemindMeBot will respond to your post, confirming the date and time of the reminder.
    • If you want to delete the RemindMe! post from the thread, click delete this message to hide from others at the bottom of the confirmation.
  6. If you set a reminder for tomorrow, click the bell icon on the top bar of Reddit in 24 hours from the moment you made the post. You’ll see a message from RemindMeBot that contains a link to the thread, as well as your reminder text.
    • RemindMeBot is transitioning from using Reddit DMs to using Reddit Chat, due to Reddit's decision to discontinue direct messaging. [7] As such, RemindMeBot may be a bit slow to reply to chat messages.
  7. Now you can see any updates or new comments that have been added to the post.
    • You can quote comments on Reddit if you need to address something specifically!
    • After catching up on the thread, you can post your own content on Reddit if you have something you want to share.
  8. After setting up your reminder, you can send a chat message to RemindMeBot to view or change your reminders. [8]
    • MyReminders! : This will show you a list of your existing reminders.
    • Remove! 123 : When you click Remove in your list of reminders, a new private message will be auto filled with the removal information.
    • RemoveAll! : This will remove all of your existing reminders.
    • Delete! 123 : When you click delete this message to hide from others in the bot’s reply, a new private message will be auto filled with the deletion information.
    • Timezone! America/New_York : This will change the default timezone for your account.
    • Clock! 12 : This will change the clock display type on your account.
      • You can see the full list of Timezone and Clock options in this Reddit thread.

    Expert Answer
You don't need to add a message, it's an optional feature. Adding the message can be a good way to remember what you wanted to be reminded about, especially if the reminder is in the distant future!
