  3. This option is near the top of the left menu.
  4. This is the third option under the "When Edge starts" header. This option lets you specify a specific website to open when you start Edge.
    • If you want to use the default Edge start page, select Open the new tab page instead.
  5. The website you entered will now open automatically when you start Edge.
    • If you'd like, you can automatically open multiple home pages in different tabs. To set another homepage, click Add a new page again to add another URL.
  6. There is one last step in changing your homepage in Edge—you'll need to make sure when you click the Home button at the top of your browser, it takes you to your preferred homepage. If you don't see a house icon at the top of the browser, click the switch to turn it on.
  7. Click the radio button next to the typing area (below "New tab page"), then type or paste the same URL into the field, and click Save . This makes it so you'll be taken to your homepage when you click the Home icon on the Edge toolbar.

  1. You'll see it to the right of the rightmost tab. When you open a new tab in Edge, you'll see the default New Tab homepage with a news feed, background images, and ads. If you don't like the new tab page, you can customize it quite a bit, and even use it as your homepage.
  2. This opens your New Tab Page settings.
  3. By default, you'll see a few icons representing some websites you visit often.
    • To add a quick link that isn't already there, click + Add shortcut , enter the name and the URL of the website, and click Add .
    • To pin one of the suggested sites to the top of the New Tab page, hover your cursor over it, click ⋯ , and select Pin to page . You can also select Rename to give it a custom name.
    • To remove one of the suggested sites, click ⋯ and select Remove .
    • You can opt to display 1 or 2 rows of links, and disable "Show sponsored links" if you don't want Edge to suggest sites to visit.
  4. Don't like the Getty Images nature scene wallpapers appearing in the background? You can select a custom background image for your homepage or remove the background entirely.
    • To get rid of the background, click the gear, then click the "Background" switch to turn it off.
    • To select a specific background image, click Edit background , then choose an image or upload your own.
    • You can also enable the "Energy Saver" option here, which plays video backgrounds at a lower resolution (720p instead of HD or better) and stops the video after one loop. This can come in handy if you're using a laptop and running low on battery .
  5. If you don't want to see the news every time you open a new Edge tab, click the gear again, then toggle off "Show feed." Alternatively, you can choose a different layout for the news feed, such as Headings if you don't want to see a ton of images.
    • You can further personalize the news feed by clicking Personalize at its top-right corner.
  6. By default, you'll see cards for different topics, including travel, On This Day in History, Horoscopes, and more. To enable or disable items in your feed, click the gear icon, select Manage under "Content settings", and use the switches to toggle your various interests on or off.
  7. The bell icon at the top-right corner of your start page will display a number when you have new items to read in your feed. If you feel stressed out by the thought of yet another notification icon, it's easy to disable.
    • Click the bell icon and select Settings .
    • Toggle off "Get all notifications," or toggle off specific notifications. This removes the notification icon from your home page.
  8. Now that you've created the perfect New Tab page, you might want to use that as your homepage.
    • Click the three-dot menu at the top-right corner of Edge and select Settings .
    • Click Start, home, and new tabs .
    • Select Open the new tab page under "When Edge starts", and then select it again under "Home button."
