  1. It’s in the left menu bar in the Teams desktop app and Teams for the web.
    • This option allows you to create polls ahead of time and share them in meetings you have scheduled on your calendar. While you can create and share a poll in a meeting this way using the mobile app, you have to start the process on desktop or the web first. [3]
    • This method is not available in all versions of Teams. You may need an organizational (work/school) account to do this.
  2. 2
Click the meeting where you’d like to add the poll. You must already have a meeting scheduled for this to work.
  3. 3
Select Chat with participants . In some versions of Teams, this option may be called Open meeting chat instead.
  4. 4
Click +Add a tab and select Polls . You may need to search for polls to find this option. Select Polls and click Add . Click Save .
    • If the +Add a tab feature isn’t available in your version of Teams, you can still submit a poll in the meeting chat using one of the methods above. However, you won’t be able to schedule a launch time for the poll.
  5. 5
Click +Create New Poll . You’ll find this option in the new Polls tab you created. If you’re using the mobile app, open the meeting and tap More > Polls > Create New > +Create New Poll .
  6. 6
Choose your poll type. There are four different options you can choose from (although what’s available will vary depending on your organization and version of Teams):
    • Multiple Choice Poll: This option allows you to create a poll with 2 or more possible responses. You can set up to 12 answers. You can also enable the option to select multiple responses.
    • Multiple Choice Quiz: This option is similar to the Multiple Choice Poll, but there is only one correct answer.
    • Word Cloud Poll or Open Text Poll: These options allow respondents to fill in their own answers to an open-ended question.
    • Rating Poll: This option allows respondents to rate a statement using starts or numbers with a rating scale that goes up to 5.
    • Ranking Poll: In a ranking poll, readers can arrange up to 5 options in their desired order.
  7. 7
Enter your questions and answers. This process will vary a little depending on what type of poll you chose.
  8. 8
Set response options for the poll. If you’re on desktop or the web, click the gear icon to adjust settings like whether you record the names of respondents, whether to share aggregated results with the respondents, and whether co-presenters can edit your poll. You’ll only see these options if the meeting hasn’t started yet.
    • If you’re using the mobile app, you’ll have more limited options. You can choose whether or not to share results automatically after the vote, and also whether or not to keep responses anonymous.
  9. 9
Select Save / Save as draft . This option allows you to save your poll for later if you want to launch it during or after the meeting. If you want to launch it immediately and collect answers before the meeting starts, click or tap Launch .
    • If you want to create additional polls for your meeting, select +Create New in the Polls tab.
  10. 10
Launch your poll. When you’re ready to launch your poll, go to the Polls tab in your meeting and select the poll. Click or tap Launch . The poll will pop up in the middle of the meeting screen for each participant. They can either enter their answers and click Submit , or close the poll without responding.
  11. You can use the View Results dropdown to choose from options like exporting the poll, closing the poll, or deleting the poll. You can also reopen a poll from this menu after closing it.
