X, formerly known as Twitter, does not allow its users to delete Tweets in bulk, but that doesn't mean you can't remove all of your Tweets in other ways! If you only have a few Tweets on your X account, you can manually delete those Tweets with ease. But what if you have accumulated thousands of Tweets over the years? Web-based tools like Redact, TweetDelete, and TweetEraser can permanently delete tweets fast, though because X now charges for its API, these tools are no longer free. This wikiHow article will walk you through the simple process of deleting all your Tweets.
Steps
-
Download and install Redact. Redact allows you to bulk delete tweets easily. While it used to be possible to delete more tweets at once for free with Redact, you can now only delete up to 500 tweets with a free account and will need to pay to be able to delete more than that. Go to https://redact.dev/download in a web browser and click Download . Once downloaded, run the setup to install the program. Redact is available for Windows, MacOS, and Linux.
- Understand the limitations:
- If you have fewer than 500 tweets to delete, the free version of Redact should work as long as you haven't already used your X account to view more than 500 tweets today. Twitter/X limits free users to viewing only 500 tweets per day, and this affects Redact's ability to delete tweets for you.
- If you have more than 500 tweets, Redact recommends paying for a Premium account ($95.88 for a yearly subscription), and importing your tweets and other X data . [1] X Research source However, you may be able to bypass this by deleting tweets in smaller batches by date.
- Understand the limitations:
-
Open Redact and log in. To log in, type your email address into the "Email" field, agree to the terms, and click Log in . You will then receive a link via email—click the Login to Redact link in the email to complete the sign-in.Advertisement
-
In Redact, click + Services and select Twitter . This adds Twitter to the left sidebar under "Delete From."
-
Click Twitter in the left sidebar. You'll be prompted to sign in to Twitter.
-
Click Log in to Twitter and sign in with your X credentials. Enter your username or phone number and password to do so now.
- If prompted, allow permission to your X account.
- Like other third-party tools, Redact requires you to log in with your X username and password and give the app permission to access your tweets. While Redact is known to be safe, always use caution before providing your log in details to any third party.
-
Select what you want to delete. By default, all options (Tweets, Replies, Retweets, Quote Tweets, Articles, and Likes) are selected. You can uncheck any other options you don't want to delete.
-
Enable "Deletion Mode" and click Start Deleting . By default, Redact runs in Preview Mode, which does a test run before deleting your tweets. To skip the preview and delete your tweets, you can click Deletion Mode , then scroll down and click Start Deleting . [2] X Research source
- If you have more than 500 tweets, you will see text that says "You have more than 500 tweets," encouraging you to use the Delete from File (premium only) option to delete your tweets. You can try limiting the amount of tweets you delete at a time by selecting a start and end date to get around the limitation. However, the most reliable option is to pay for Redact Premium.
-
Agree to the Terms of Service and click Start Deleting . Check the box on the pop-up window, and then click Start Deleting again.
- Your selections will be deleted. You can see its progress in the same window under Currently Deleting .
-
Revoke Redact's access to your account when finished. If you want to stop using Redact once your tweets are deleted, you can revoke access to X in your settings. Here's how:
- Go to https://x.com/settings/security_and_account_access .
- Click Apps and sessions .
- Click Connected apps .
- Click Redact and select Revoke app permissions .
-
Navigate to http://www.tweetdelete.net . TweetDelete is a service that can delete all tweets in your X account. There used to be a free version, but you'll now need to pay to mass delete tweets and their comments . [3] X Research source
- Understand the limitations:
- TweetDelete no longer offers a free tier—you must pay to delete your tweets with this tool. However, their prices are a little better than some competitors.
- Like other third-party tools, TweetDelete requires you to log in with your X username and password and give the app permission to access your tweets. While TweetDelete is known to be safe, always use caution before providing your log in details to any third party.
- Understand the limitations:
-
Click Sign in with X.com to sign in to X. It's at the top-right corner. If you're not already logged in, you'll be prompted to do so now.
-
Click Authorize app .
-
Select a plan. You'll be prompted to choose a paid plan before you can delete all tweets. Click Get Started under your preferred plan, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete your payment.

- Lifetime Plan: Delete an unlimited amount of tweets as often as needed for a one-time price of $99. [5] X Research source

Download your X data files. If you need to delete more than 500 tweets, you'll want to export your X data so you can import it to TweetDelete. Here's how:
- Log in to X in a web browser.
- Click More in the left panel and go to Settings and privacy .
- Click Your account and select Download an archive of your data .
- Confirm your password and click Request archive .
- When your archive is ready, you will be notified via email. Follow the instructions in the email to download your archive.

- If you have trouble with the upload, try unzipping the file and only upload the file called "tweets.js" instead.
-
Choose a time span from the dropdown menu. Here, you can choose which tweets to delete based on their age. You can choose from options spanning from a single week to an entire year.
-
Click Delete my tweets at the bottom. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish deleting your tweets.
-
Revoke TweetDelete's access to your account when finished. If you want to stop using TweetDelete once your tweets are deleted, you can revoke access to X in your settings. Here's how:
- Go to https://x.com/settings/security_and_account_access .
- Click Apps and sessions .
- Click Connected apps .
- Click TweetDeleteLLC and select Revoke app permissions .
- While TweetDelete is a largely safe platform, keeping it connected to your X account could still pose a security risk.
-
Navigate to https://www.tweeteraser.com and sign in. TweetEraser is another third-party service that can mass-delete your tweets, and it appears to be pretty much identical to TweetDelete (except they've renamed the plans on this site). To sign in, click Sign in with X/Twitter and log in with your X account.

- Expert Plan
