Is there a way to share the wifi password with someone from my phone instead of having them type it in? I thought there was an easy setting, but I can't find it.

It's super easy to share your wifi password if you both have an iPhone or another Apple device. Just have the other person select your wifi network on their phone and a password request will pop up on your phone. Click 'share password' and then click 'done.' Your phone has to be unlocked for it to pop up, though.

Agree with above! This also works on a Mac computer. If the person is in your contact list and signed into their Apple account, then a notification will pop up on your computer screen asking if you want to share your wifi password.

You can also create a qr code to share your wifi password on iOS. Open the shortcuts app and search for wifi in the gallery section. Run the shortcut and enter your wifi network name and password to create the qr code. Then share it with whoever you want!

If you're trying to get the password from your friend with an Android, it's really simple for them to share it.

They just need to go into their settings, click "Network and Internet," and choose "Wifi." Tap on the gear icon and then "Share" to generate your QR code.

I am an AirBNB host and I have created a QR code for guests who want to connect to WiFi. I print out the code and have it framed in a quaint little antique frame on the desk so they see it as soon as they arrive. This way, they don't have to text me and wait for a reply back in order to connect to WiFi.

For those concerned about security: use a QR code ONLY for a guest network and be sure to configure your guest network such that your home network is not visible. I intend to change my guest network name and/or password after each event.

Make sure your Wi-Fi password is complicated enough that it can't be stolen, but also not so long and complicated and random that it's a pain to share with others. If you tell your grandma that your Wi-Fi password is Z4$9hJt56&rakfgj%2kjakfo7 she's going to be so frustrated and so are you.

Most routers come with a default Wi-Fi password, which is usually printed on the side of the router. However, these default passwords are not always very secure, so it’s best to set a new one whenever you get a new router.

If you're trying to share your internet with another device the host computer will need to be turned on and connected to the internet in order for it to share its connection with other computers on the network.

If you want to have access to your internet while traveling, I believe you could self-host a VPN for your own network.
