August Alsina revealed that he was dating a man in 2022, but he has not put an explicit label on his sexuality. When he was asked about his sexuality on Nick Cannon's Counsel Culture
show, Alsina said, "When people want you to define yourself as whether you're gay, straight, bisexual, or whatever it is you was just talking about, love is much more complex than that and has much more depth...I'm fluent in love when it speaks to me."
Alsina first came out on the finale of VH1's The Surreal World when he said, "Love showed up, but in a new way. I want to share that and really honor the person that I love...I want to do that in front of the world..." His boyfriend then appeared on screen to give him a hug. There are some rumors that Alsina's boyfriend is his close friend Zu, but Alsina has kept his partner's identity hidden from the public.
