Sometimes it can be difficult to figure out a quick but delicious dish to enjoy. Fortunately, if you love shrimp fried rice and Buldak ramen, this recipe is a perfect blend of both beloved dishes. Whether you're looking to eat a meal after a long day at school or craving a snack while watching a movie, you will find this recipe to be the perfect solution. Follow this step-by-step guide to make Buldak ramen shrimp fried rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 Buldak ramen packet (original or 2x spicy)
  • 4 1/2 cups cooked rice
  • Small cooked shrimp
  • Green onions (scallion), chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup neutral oil
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Buldak hot sauce (optional)
  1. Prepare your rice at least 2 hours before making your Buldak ramen fried rice. Use any method to prepare your rice, such as a rice cooker or a stove. You may also use leftover rice. Remember to not heat the rice as we want it to be cold. If your leftover rice is stored in the refrigerator, take it out and place it on a nearby table or countertop.
    • Any variety of rice will work for this dish. Jasmin, Basmati, white, or wheat rice are all great options.
  2. Grab a large bowl and fill it with cold water. Add your frozen shrimp into the bowl and place it on the side. Wait around 10-20 minutes for shrimp to completely thaw. Once the shrimp are ready, dump the water out and put the bowl with the shrimp nearby until ready to be used. If your shrimp is not cooked, place shrimp in a pot to boil for around 2 minutes until they are pink in color.
    • It's recommended to use peeled, deveined, and tail-off shrimp.
    • Depending on the size of your shrimp, the shrimp may thaw quicker or slower than anticipated.
    • The amount of shrimp is up to your preference. This recipe will display around 25-30 small cooked shrimp.

  3. Place a large saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to medium. Once you begin to notice heat emitting from your pan, add your neutral oil.
    • Neutral oil is any type of cooking oil that can be used to bake, fry, and cook food without adding any extra flavor. Examples of neutral oils include canola, avocado, sunflower, and vegetable oil.
  4. Double-check and confirm that your green onions and garlic are chopped. Once ready, add all the garlic and half of the green onions into the saucepan. Stir occasionally for 1 minute.
    • Remaining green onions will be used for garnish.
  5. After steps 2 and 4 are thoroughly completed, add the shrimp to the saucepan. Saute the shrimp for around 3-6 minutes until they turn an orange-pink color. Once complete, turn the heat to low-medium as you prepare for the next step.
    • Do not hesitate to decrease the heat during the frying process for your comfort.
  6. While your shrimp cooks in the saucepan, open your Buldak ramen packet and remove the sauce and sesame seed packets. Once removed, clasp one hand over the opening and use the other to crush the ramen into pieces. Aim to crush the ramen until no big chunks remain.
  7. Place the crushed ramen into the saucepan. Pour the water into the saucepan to help soften the ramen, and stir occasionally.
    • Avoid pouring more or less water than necessary as it could affect the end result.
  8. As soon as your ramen has softened, add your rice to the saucepan. Use a spatula or spoon to mix the rice with the other ingredients. Continue mixing until no chunks of rice remain.
  9. After your ramen and rice have been mixed, break two eggs and add them to the saucepan. Mix the eggs into the rice until evenly distributed.
    • The method of scrambling and mixing the eggs is up to your preference. You may scramble eggs separately and then stir them with rice later. Alternatively, you can add your eggs to the saucepan and stir with rice instantly.
  10. Place cheese on top of rice. Once melted, stir the cheese into the rice for added flavor.
    • If desired, substitute cheddar cheese for your favorite type of cheese.
    • The amount of cheese is up to your preference. This recipe displays 3 slices of cheddar cheese.
  11. Pour two tablespoons of sesame oil and one tablespoon of soy sauce onto the mixture. Stir the mixture and then continue to the next step.
    • Sesame oil and soy sauce are traditionally added to season the fried rice.
    • You may add as little or as much sesame oil and soy sauce as you like, but be aware of the sodium content in soy sauce.
  12. To taste the unique Buldak ramen flavor in your fried rice, reach for your Buldak ramen sauce removed from the ramen packet earlier and pour it into the saucepan. Stir until shrimp fried rice is evenly coated with the Buldak sauce.
    • If you prefer your fried rice to be spicier, add Buldak hot sauce until suited to taste.
  13. Turn off the heat and remove the pan from the stove. Add the remaining green onions and stir into the mixture. Once completed, open the Buldak dried seaweed and sesame seeds packet placed to the side during the earlier steps. Pour over the fried rice until satisfied.
    • Add any other ingredients you would like to use to garnish the shrimp fried rice.
  14. Place your completed Buldak ramen shrimp fried rice onto a plate and serve. Consider adding soy sauce and Buldak hot sauce to the table so individuals can suit the fried rice to their taste. Eat on its own or serve with side dishes of your choosing. Enjoy!
