Do you want to start saving up money, or have a cool toy you want to buy? Well, try making money by selling sweets! This wikiHow goes over the basics of selling sweets in school (or potentially outside of school) and making a profit to expand it.

  1. Decide how much money you would like to invest . After you have done this look at different options on sweets. Let's say you have 5 dollars and want to make 10 dollars, what do you do? You could buy fifty 10-cent sweets and sell them for twenty cents, or one hundred 5-cent candies and sell them for 10 cents, etc. It is your choice. If you don't think that you can sell a high volume, go for sweets with greater profit and sell fewer.
  2. Selling merchandise to people can be the hardest part. Depending on the person, they might want more sweets than someone else. Choose wisely and try not to sell to someone who will scam you.
    • Once you have established with some people that you are selling sweets, they might come back asking for some more.

  3. Lower a bit if they aren't willing to spend as much, but try to stay in control of your prices.
  4. This will increase your profits. [1]
  5. e.g if you're in year 10, sell to years 7,8, and 9, and 11.
  6. It helps.
  7. Sell things that you think people will want on that day (e.g if it is a boiling hot day then lemonade or water sell really well).
  8. . These are easy to sell, and can produce a lot of money (especially if gum is banned in school) . If you can get away with selling gum for 10 cents apiece, and a pack of gum with 5 pieces costs 17 cents, you will make 50 cents, or a net profit of 33 cents easily.
  9. Sell things you will make the most profit on (e.g if you buy a pack of 4 chocolates for $1 in a shop, then sell them for 50 cents each and you will make 100% profit).
  10. Go to shops like the 99c stores. They usually have good deals on sweets and they also sell big packs of sweets for low prices.
  11. Tell everyone by word and mouth about your 'business', If you make a facebook page and it all goes downhill, you'll look like an idiot! Spread the word to all your mates and tell them to tell all their mates too! [2]
  12. Try not to fall out with friends who know about your 'business', rumours could break out and your business will fold like a mum doing the ironing! Keep the sweets hidden, not somewhere obvious that people (who don't particularly like you) can find and steal for their personal gain.
  13. Just like at restaurants, you don't see staff being rude, do you? Treat them right otherwise you could get a bad name for yourself and it won't work out! [3]

  • Question
Which type of sweets sell the best?
    Community Answer
I would think prepackaged candy would sell the best. Some people can be hesitant about eating homemade sweets, but many people love candy!
  • Question
What if there is a snitch at my school and rats me out?
    Community Answer
Keep your business secret and hide sweets to cover your tracks. If he snitches make sure your sweets cannot be found.
  • Question
I have a measly 38 cents in my piggy bank. What can I buy with that?
    Community Answer
Go to the shop and look for something cheap (10 cents or so) and sell it for more. Repeat.

      Tips

      • If other people start selling the same things as you, lower your prices a bit, so people will buy off you instead of them. If you can't afford to lower your prices (e.g if you lowered them then you'd lose profit on the items) then go to different shops looking for good deals on them so you can sell them cheaper but still make decent profit.
      • Buy a lot of sweets. Selling just 2 lollipops won't do much in a day!
      • Try saving up money each day. (e.g if you make $20 one day, then put half of it in your bank (or somewhere where you can save it) and spend the rest on more stuff to sell). If you do that each day, you will end up with a lot of cash in your pocket.

      • You can ask people for a bit of money as soon as you have some money go to a shop and buy sweets. Go around and start asking people if they would like to buy anything from you. Then take the money you got from the sweets and divide it in half one half. Put one half in your bank account, and use the other half to buy more sweets.
      • If you were planning on making a business but someone already did it, then you can still make a business but make the prices cheaper. This may lower your profit but you have more customers. So your profits might rise a little.
      • You could buy big bags of sweets like Haribos or large bags of lollipops from the Dollar Store and sell them for $3 each. People will buy them if they're big.
      • Offer your friends and potential customers a "free sample". It can really go a long way in promoting your business.
      • Don't get caught if you are sneaking it, but don't blow your cover if the money is for your family or friends.

      Warnings

      • Never give anyone sweets if they want to pay you the next day--they probably won't give you the money.
      • If you make a decent amount of money from trades, avoid investing it all at once in new products, as you may not be able to sell them all and be left with a lot of candy and little money.
      • Know your class, don't sell to snitches.
      • Try not to tell too many people as they might try to sell sweets too. With more people selling sweets it will be a lot harder to make profit.
      • Make sure you don't make it obvious sweets are being sold, i.e. make sure that your whole form isn't eating sweets simultaneously; otherwise, it becomes pretty obvious to teachers what is going on.
      • Ask your principal before doing this. Try not to get in trouble.
      • If you do it where you can easily be seen, you will have to face the consequences.

If a teacher knows you are selling and come for you, give your sweets and anything you are selling to someone you trust like a close friend, brother or sister, or even your girlfriend or boyfriend. By doing this you will ensure that the teachers don't have any evidence that you where selling.

      • If you aren't allowed to sell in school but you still are, don't do it, or do it when teachers are not around.
