The jam (fruit preserves) sandwich has long been a staple lunch item or snack food. It can made with just jam, or other food items can be added to change both texture and flavour.
Ingredients
- 2 slices bread per sandwich
- Jam or preserves of choice
- Sandwich slices, plain bread without seeds etc.
- Jam or preserves of choice
- 4 slices of sandwich bread
- 1/3 cup cream cheese
- 1/4 cup strawberry jam or preserves
- 2 tablespoons butter, unsalted, room temperature
- 2 slices sandwich bread
- Nut butter of choice (peanut, cashew, almond, etc.)
- Jam and preserves of choice
Steps

Place the slices of bread on the plate.

Spread a spoonful of jam or preserves on one side of each slice of bread.Advertisement

Press the slices of bread together.

Cut in halves or quarters. Quarters are easiest to handle if the jam is really chunky or threatens to ooze out. [1] X Research source

Serve. Put on a plate for serving.

Place the slices of sandwich bread on the plate.

Press the slices together.

Remove the crusts from the sandwich bread. [3] X Research source

Cut into neat rectangles or finger sticks.

Arrange neatly on a plate or a sandwich/cake stand. [4] X Research source

Place the slices of sandwich bread on a work surface.

Spread the cream cheese on 2 bread slices.

Spread the strawberry jam or preserves on the other 2 slices.

Press the 2 slices together. Press one cream cheese to one strawberry jam/preserves slice.

Spread butter over the top of each sandwich.

Put the buttered sandwiches into the frying pan/skillet. Fry over medium heat until the base turns golden brown. This will be about 4 to 5 minutes. [6] X Research source

Flip over and fry the other side.

Remove from the heat when golden brown both sides. Plate up and serve. Allow the diner to cut the sandwich; the cheese will ooze a little. Be careful; jam or preserves retain heat well.
