When you create a video or photo snap, you can easily upload it to your Story to share with your friends. You can post to My Story, Private Story, Our Story, or even Public Story (if you have a verified account). These Stories will be available to watch for 24 hours. Here's how to post to Snapchat Stories using your iPhone, iPad, or Android.

Quick Steps for Posting a Snapchat Story

  1. Take a Snap or video.
  2. Edit your Snap or video.
  3. Tap Stories .
  4. Tap Add .

Posting to My Story (Mobile)

  1. This resembles a white ghost on a yellow background. This will open your main Snapchat page if you're logged in.
    • If you aren't logged into Snapchat, tap LOG IN , then enter your email address (or username) and password.
  2. You can upload a snap from your Camera Roll or Memories, or you can create a new one. You can upload a photo or video snap to your Public Story.
    • To create a new snap, tap the camera button to snap a picture, or hold the button to start recording.
    • To upload a snap from your Memories , tap the two overlapping rectangles icon. Tap and hold the image or video you want to upload, and then tap Edit .
    • To upload a snap from your Camera Roll , tap the two overlapping rectangles icon. Tap Camera Roll . Then, tap and hold the image or video you want to upload. Select Edit .

  4. This is the icon at the bottom of the screen. A pop-up menu will open.
  5. The snap will be added to your My Story.
    • If you want to send your snap to some of your Snapchat contacts and your Story, tap Send To instead. Then, select My Story (or a Private Story) and any friends. Tap the arrow to upload and send your snap.

  1. Go to the Snapchat website in a web browser. If you aren't already logged in, enter your Snapchat username and password to do so now.
    • Keep in mind that videos must be 5 to 60 seconds long with a minimum resolution of 540x960. [1]
  2. If you don't want to drag and drop the file, you can click Choose media to select it instead.
    • If this is your first time posting, you may need to agree to Snapchat's Creator Terms.
  4. The video or photo will be uploaded to your story.

  1. You can upload a snap from your Camera Roll or Memories, or you can create a new one. You can upload a photo or video snap to your Public Story.

  1. Go to the Snapchat website in a web browser. If you aren't already logged in, enter your Public Profile username and password to do so now. [2]
  2. This is the button next to Upload photos or videos .
  3. Keep in mind that videos must be .mp4 format, 5 to 60 seconds long, and at least 540x960px.
  4. If you want to post to Spotlight as well, you'll need to repeat this process again for Spotlight; there's currently no way to post content to both your Public Story and Spotlight at the same time using the web.
  5. The video or photo will be uploaded to your Public Story.
    • If this is your first time posting, you may need to agree to Snapchat's Creator Terms first.

What is a Public Story?

  1. Currently, there are four types of stories: My Story, Private Story, Our Story, and Public Story. My Story is your typical story that is seen by your friends. Private Story is a story that may be shared by select people. Our Story is a collection of snaps sent in by users and compiled by Snapchat during specific events, such as festivals. Public Story is similar to My Story, except it's available for everyone to see. This is only available for verified creators on Snapchat.

    Can I take snaps from other people's story ?

    The only way to save snaps from other people without a third party app is to take a screenshot. On iOS this is done by pressing the power and home buttons at the same time. On Android you press the hold the power and volume down buttons at the same time.
