  • Question
How can a poor person can become an actor?
    Community Answer
Many great actors have tales of being flat broke when their careers were just beginning. Take a job with a schedule that doesn't conflict with acting auditions, audition for everything you can (community theater productions, commercial casting calls, etc.), and continue to build your portfolio. Try to get yourself an agent as soon as you can -- reputable agents don't require any money up-front, but rather take their fees from roles they've arranged for you. While having money can certainly be an advantage when it comes to things like studio head-shots, social contacts, and being able to afford classes and coaches, acting is a profession that depends primarily on one's skill and confidence. Auditions are a level playing field when it comes to economic background, and being rich isn't going to help if you don't have the required talent.
