  • Question
Can I create a garage paint booth big enough to paint a car in?
    Community Answer
It really depends on the size of your car. If you have a small to medium-sized car, then you should be able to. You'll need to make an enclosure with at least 1 meter (3.3 ft) of walking space on each side of the car. Also, don't forget to properly ventilate your garage, as this will be too large of a task for a few simple box fans.

If my booth is 8 - 10' wide, can I use 2 fans to suck the air out while 1 fan is bringing in fresh air?
    Community Answer
The size of fan required is based on the volume of air you need to move to keep your booth air fresh and move the over spray out. In most cases, with any booth of substantial size you want move 10,000 cubic feet per minute. One very important thing to remember is to use an explosion-proof fan, which means a fan which has an enclosed motor. This is of utmost importance if you are using solvent based paints. As long as you are using a big enough fan to move the volume of air you need to, you probably will not require a fan to blow air in. My booth is 24 feet long, 14 feet wide and 9 feet tall; for this booth I use an industrial explosion-proof fan with a 3' diameter.
