This sounds more like an alter (DID, the new term for MPD) than an alter ego. However, if you mean that you are already performing as this character, and don't want to anymore, you will have to get creative. You could kill them off. Another option would be to just go on an interview and declare you will no longer be acting as this persona.

I'm friends with a guy with DID and I can tell you that Alter Egos are in no way compared to Disociative Identity Disorder. His alters are their own people, and he has no control over what they do or when they do it, unlike you would with a character. I'm afraid I don't know much of tulpas, but if you believe in such a thing, maybe they could be considered such.
