  • Question
How do I keep my balance on roller skates?
    Community Answer
At first, make sure you are not bending your knees. You want to just lift your leg up and walk with your skates on. Once you feel much easier on skates, you want to go to a grassy area or carpet and bend your knees. Try to glide. While lifting one leg, your body weight shifts to the other leg. When you want to stop, just hold onto something or straighten your legs.

  • Question
Can I combine any of the tricks I'm doing on my roller skates? How many times will I fall trying to do these tricks?
    Community Answer
Whether or not you can do this will depend on what tricks you are doing. You can combine some of the tricks you are doing but you'll need to experiment to see what flows on logically and practically from the last trick performed. Also, how often you fall down depends on variables like how careful you are, how many tricks you are trying, how hard the tricks are, whether or not you're holding on to something/someone, etc. It's impossible to give any definitive answer to your latter question.
  • Question
When I am skating backward, how do I turn back forward again? I’ve tried everything from jumping to spread-eagle turning, but I just can’t get the hang of it!

Just gain more momentum. Go faster and faster, then do a crossover like in roller derby.
  • Question
How do I skate with one leg?
    Community Answer
It`s actually quite simple, just start of by standing still on one leg without falling and then start doing it while gliding. Unlike a lot of the other skills, I would suggest to start of at a normal-fast pace and practice slowing down on one leg as it is harder to keep your balance when you are going slower. After you are comfortable going fast and slow you can try doing jumps and/or spins on one leg.
