  • Question
Why does drinking a lot of water make me feel like vomiting and causes me to feel bloated?
    Community Answer
This is because you are likely putting too much water at once into your body. Normally your stomach muscle is relaxed, but a lot of food or water being consumed in a short time causes it to have to stretch, resulting in bloating. If the volume of water you are drinking makes you feel like vomiting, it is because your body knows that too much water is coming in and wants to get it out early, as excess water can weaken muscles and nerves. The first place water is absorbed into your body is the stomach, so that's why it can be sensitive to too much water being ingested.

    Community Answer
You generally shouldn't drink large amounts of water in a short amount of time, and instead drink your daily required amount in increments over the course of your day. At meals and after waking up, it is generally a good idea to drink at least a cup of water, but even this can be spread out over the course of your morning/meal. If you feel bloated after hydrating, you might be over-doing it.

  • Question
How is too much water fatal?
    Community Answer
Under normal circumstances, your body will maintain a natural balance of all nutrients in its system. If you drink excessive amounts of water, the balance between electrolytes and the water that carries them is thrown off. Electrolytes are charged particles that help maintain nerve and muscle function. Nerves and muscles communicate/function by electrical and chemical connections, and electrolytes help with this process. So, with too much water at once, the electrolytes are diluted, and your muscular and nervous systems will stop working properly, including your brain. This leads to twitching, weakness, and eventually a seizure, as your cells can't work properly, which may be fatal.
