  • Question
Do carrots need shade as well as sunlight?

When planting carrots in rows, how spread out do the rows have to be?

Leave 6 inches between each carrot and 12 inches between each row. You can space them a little bit closer together if you must, but this spacing is ideal.
  • Question
How long will it take for carrots to grow?
    Community Answer
It usually takes 70 to 80 days for carrots to mature. Carrots are biennial plants. If you leave them in the ground, the tops will flower and produce seeds the second year.
  • Question
Can I grow carrots in a flower pot?
    Community Answer
As a seedling you can, but once it starts growing, plant it in the ground because the carrot will need space to grow underground.
  • Question
From where can I get carrot seeds?
    Community Answer
Most stores like Walmart and Home Depot sell carrot seeds. You can also get carrot seeds at the gardening section of other stores or online.
  • Question
    Can I transplant carrots?

  • Question
    What is clumpy soil?
    Community Answer
Clumpy soil is when the soil is gathered - almost like if it was a ball. To loosen it, you just need to break it apart with the shovel, either by pounding or another way.
  • Question
    Can I grow carrots in a temperature of 25 C to 35 C?
    Community Answer
Optimum growing temperatures for these crops are 15 to 20 C, with a minimum of 5 C and a maximum of 24 C. The minimum temperature for germination is 2 C with an optimum range of 10 to 25 C. The optimum germination temperature for parsnips is 18 C and carrots is 25 C. The maximum temperature for germination is 30 C and 35 C respectively. These crops favor cool season conditions. Low and high temperatures reduce seed germination. Both carrot and parsnip foliage are hurt by frosts (1.5 C), but this does not usually affect the roots. When there are freezes for over 24 hours, the crowns can be injured and these carrots will not keep well.
  • Question
    What colors can carrots be?
    Community Answer
Carrots are mostly colored orange. However, they have quite a few color variants as well, so they could red, purple, white or yellow, depending on the variety purchased.
  • Question
Can I plant carrots together with manure?
    Community Answer
