Should I accept someone from my school even if I don't know them personally?

I'm a teen girl and received a friend request from a stranger. I declined and made my settings as private as possible, but it still freaks me out. What should I do?

Talk to someone you trust, such as a parent or relative, about your feelings. It's normal to be scared, don't worry. If you didn't share any private information (such as your home address or phone number) to them, you should be fine. Also, remember that just because someone has a blank profile picture or no content on their profile, it doesn't automatically mean they are bad or dangerous. They might just be as private as you are, or didn't fill out their profile yet. It's very unlikely for someone to hack into your account, but if you're really that paranoid, don't post any private content on your page at all.
