When running windows in oracles VM, how do I access my files not kept in the virtual drive?

You can open your file explorer inside the VM, and then go into your C: drive and find the files in there, as the C: drive is the computer's main folder. Alternatively, you could move the files into the VM's drive.

Shared folders show up as a network drive. Just go to the Shared Folders section of the VM settings in VirtualBox, and click the folder icon with a plus (+) sign on it. Select the folder you want to share, and check the Auto-mount and "Make Permanent" boxes (for ease of use). The drive will show up almost immediately under "This PC" in the File Explorer. Put the stuff you want to share in the folder, and it will show up in the drive in the guest.
