Make sure you have arrows in your inventory. Place a bow in your hotba, and select it. "Use" it, and it will start to draw back. Once it zooms in while drawing back, it is at the highest possible power. Then release the "use" button and the arrow will fly toward your mark. You can usually tell at which height the arrow will hit by where the tip of it is pointing, which is usually above the crosshair.

Smooth stone slabs are crafted using 3 smooth stone, which is obtained by smelting cobblestone into stone, then smelting the stone again. Open a crafting table and fill 1 whole row with smooth stone. To make an armor stand, open a crafting table, fill the top row with 3 sticks, place a stick in the middle of the middle row, place the slab below the stick in the bottom row, then place the last 2 sticks on both sides of the slab.
