First, reflect on the previous year and take the time to identify what your intentions are for the new year. It's a helpful exercise to understand where you've been, what kind of challenges you may have navigated, and what you accomplished in the previous year. From there, decide where you want to focus your energy in the new year. After you've identified your intentions for the year, set concrete resolutions to help you figure out what changes you want to make in the new year.

    Expert Answer
Start the new year fresh with some easy, life-changing steps. Reflect on the past year. Think of where you've been and what you did or did not accomplish. Let that inform the goals you set for the new year. Map out your plan. Write down your timeline for changes and what milestones you want to reach during the year ahead. Be true to the vision you have for yourself and manage your expectations. Ask for help. Once you set your goals, don't be afraid to ask for assistance. Don't assume that people will deny you when you ask for support. Aid and accountability are useful when you're making changes.
  • Question
Now that that I've made my New Years' resolutions, how do I go about fulfilling them?
    Community Answer
Just try your best. Write a journal. Start writing about your resolution. For example, if you've made a new resolution for waking up early, then write something about it, to keep track of your change.
  • Question
What if the New Year does not go well?
    Community Answer
It's just a human-created calendar, there is nothing that special about the year itself. Things are bound to go wrong some Januaries, and go right on others. Try not to lump everything that is happening to you into the one negative basket, surely something nice is happening amid the bad stuff? Try to be positive, hold your head up high and make all attempts to get back on track, following the direction you wish to follow. Try a hundred percent most of the time, and learn from mistakes. Things will and do go wrong in life, the best laid plans go astray and starting over is a standard reality for many a human being. You can start over right now, in the morning or whenever it pleases you, there's no need to be hung up on the calendar.
  • Question
How do I reflect on my actions for the previous year?

How do I become motivated when doing chores in my room?

  • Question
What is the best way to plan out a New Years resolution and choose one?
    Community Answer
Resolutions and plans are made in every year start but usually we forget our all commitments and resolutions. Strengthen your willpower enough so that you can practice your resolutions. Making difficult resolutions will do nothing but misguide you, and soon be in vain. So, choose or create your resolutions very carefully in relation to your environment and your life. Divide your resolutions into incremental stages, then it will be easier for you to follow them.

  • Question
I often don't know what I'm feeling lately, and I'm scared the new year will make it worse. Any advice?
    Angela Mellin
    Community Answer
You shouldn't feel afraid of the new year. What I usually do is that I look back on my mistakes from the past year and understand what I can do to fix them. If you are unsure of what you are feeling, you should think about what makes you happy. If you can't find that, try new things. You can find what makes you happy and meet other people who share your interests in the process. If you are still feeling confused, nervous, scared or other negative emotions, you should talk to someone: your parents, guardians, family, friends, or even a therapist. Even a stuffed animal is a good listener!
  • Question
Now that I've changed my looks completely, I'm scared that people will judge me. How should I live in confidence?
    Angela Mellin
    Community Answer
You shouldn't be afraid that people will judge you by the way you look. You have every right to change your appearance. If people can't accept you for what you look like, they don't deserve your attention. Ignore anyone who does try to judge you (they're usually just doing so to feel better about their own insecurities anyway), and instead focus on those who appreciate you for who you are, not what you look like.
  • Question

  • Question
People tease me for being Christian, for being tall and that my two friend are not really my friends. How do I stop worrying that they'll find something new to tease me about in the new year?
    Angela Mellin
    Community Answer
If people tease you and don't appreciate you for who you are, they probably are insecure or unhappy with who they are. Being Christian and tall don't give others any reason to tease you. Also, if you have "fake friends", you should probably let go of them and find better people to be friends with. If this really bothers you, talk to a counselor. Learn to accept yourself for who you are by taking time to find what you like to do, who you want to be as a person, and doing what makes you happy. This will help you to stop worrying and find confidence in yourself.
  • Question
I've drafted my 10 resolutions of how to become a high caliber person and optimize my life this year. And have failed twice to follow them. So, how can I commit to my resolution and stop being lazy?
    Shrabonti Rahman

Motivate yourself. Or, try this: You do one resolution every month and continue for the whole month. And 1 month is enough for you to make it a habit your daily thing, like eating you breakfast.
  • Question
I'm interested in learning languages and studying medical. Can someone give me ideas what resolutions should I make?
    Xaftu

  • Question
What if I don’t have any resolutions or do not know what to change?
    Xaftu
    Community Answer
There is always something to change. Try standing in front of the mirror and be true to your heart. Think about one thing you want to change about yourself, and work on that. For example, say you are really clumsy, or maybe you forget things easily. Think about what you can do about your bad habits and come up with a plan to change them.
