They will bark and alert their owners that the raccoon is able to be shot at. Dogs will mangle the raccoon flesh, rendering its hide useless. These dogs are also at a higher risk of acute canine idiopathic polyradiculoneuritis, which is a neurological condition that can paralyze your dog.
