How do I transfer my contacts if my old iPhone is lost?

If you had iCloud on, your contacts will appear on your new iPhone after signing in to your Apple ID. If you wish to test this theory first go to iCloud.com (on any device) and log in. However, when you log in, it’s best to first set up your new Apple device (in case Apple asks to verify you (especially on PC's). After logging in you’ll see your iCloud contacts, photos, notes and drive. If you do this and see no content, then your lost phone had iCloud off. (You could also find your iPhone by googling Find my iPhone. However if your location services are off/battery dead this won’t work.
