You can transfer a photo on a seam. Just note that anywhere that the fabric is not touching the transfer will be an interruption in your image. This might not be a problem for you. If you need to transfer on a seam, but want your image to be as seamless as possible, try cutting your image in two parts, and then transferring it on either side of the seam. This will make it easier to to create an image that has no interruptions, because you will have more control of how much of the transfer touches the fabric.
