“Hi Jessie, can we talk for a second?” Oh, sure. What’s up? “I just feel like I haven’t seen you very much lately.” Really? I’ve been around, I’ve seen you a few times. “Yeah, I guess I just feel like we haven’t been hanging out as much as we used to. I see you around with Emily a lot, though.” Yeah, I’ve been hanging out with her a lot. She’s really cool! “I know you’re not meaning to do this, but it kind of feels like you’re ditching me all the time for her. It seems like you’re including me less and less and it kind of hurts. You’re my best friend and I miss hanging out with you.” Oh no, I didn’t know you felt that way! I didn’t even notice… I’ve been so caught up with school and everything and Emily just keeps inviting me to stuff. I don’t know why she hasn’t been inviting you. I’m sorry. “Yeah, I don’t know if she likes me very much. And that doesn’t feel that good either, but I wouldn’t mind as much if it didn’t feel like she was like, stealing you away from me. I know that sounds dramatic, but that really is how it makes me feel.” Wow, I’m really sorry. I had no idea this was happening. “Can we make plans to hang out, just me and you again? You can come over tomorrow or something. I don’t want to be all needy or anything, but I miss doing all these weird things with you, haha.” Yeah, of course. I do too! And I’ll talk to Emily, too, and see what’s going on. I don’t know why she’d try to steal me, but I guess that is kind of what it seems like. “Well, as long as we get to hang out again, I’m happy. Thanks for understanding… I felt kind of nervous and weird talking to you about it.” No, I’m glad you did. I miss hanging out with you too.
