Gratitude Express how thankful you are to have certain people and blessings in your life. Thank God, especially, for His presence in your life and all that He does. Examples: Psalm 7:17 “I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.” Reverence Show respect for the Lord and all his creations. Example: The Lord's Prayer (King James Version) “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Struggles Share anything that might be troubling you at the moment and let God be a source of hope, compassion, and understanding. Example: Psalm 32:7-8 “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.” Questions and guidance If you have any questions for God about your troubles or if you’re in need of guidance, don’t be afraid to ask for advice (and to ask for signs that show He had heard your prayers). Example: Psalm 25:4-5 “Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” Confessions and forgiveness Admit any wrongdoings, express remorse, and ask God for forgiveness. Example: Psalm 51 “Be merciful to me, O God, because of your constant love. Because of your great mercy wipe away my sins! Wash away all my evil and make me clean from my sin!” Friends, family, and others Whether it’s a specific person, group of family/friends, or people you don’t know, pray for them to be free from their suffering, pain, and worry. Example: Ephesians 1:17-18 “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.” Any necessary or special items Reference these items, hold them, or simply have them nearby and use them to pray or ask God to bless whoever (or whatever) they represent. Examples: Holy texts (Bible, Quran, Talmud, Bhagavad Gita, Vedas, Sutras) Prayer beads Prayer rug Altar pieces Ashes of deceased loved ones Photos Sacred totems Candles
