Dribbling Dribbling is the basic technique of controlling the ball while moving. The best way to dribble is by keeping the ball in contact with your stick and keeping your body between you and players from the other team. Developing your dribbling ability allows your team to retain the ball longer and have a better chance of scoring. Trapping Trapping is the ability to receive the ball. Trapping involves lowering your stick to the field so that you're holding it flat against the ground with the end of the stick facing up. As you develop this skill, you’ll get better at trapping the ball while moving. Passing Developing passing accuracy and speed allows your team to have better control of the ball without being intercepted. The best way to develop both accuracy and speed is by passing with a partner in practice. Start close together and as you get improve, pass from farther distances. Flat Stick Tackle A flat stick tackle is a way to gain control of the ball from an opponent. It involves holding your stick flat to the ground and sweeping the ball away from another player. It’s best used to block a potential pass when you’re between an opposing player with the ball and their teammates. Jab The jab is another way to gain control of the ball. Unlike the flat stick tackle, which involves making a sweeping motion, the jab is a quick poking motion to drive the ball away from you. The jab is effective for causing the other team to lose position when in your defensive end.
