Hey Isabelle, did you hear when Mrs. Roberts said our term essay was due? I feel like I’ve been working on it for weeks and I’m still nowhere near finished!
Me too! It’s taking forever. She said it was due on the 20th.
Thank you. I’ll make sure to actually write that down this time. What are you writing your paper on?
I decided to compare the two books we read this semester by looking at the economy during the time they were written.
Oh wow! That’s an amazing topic. You are definitely going to be the only one writing about that. How did you come up with that?
Thanks! It took some time, but it was actually during History class that I thought of it. Mr. Phillips was talking about how the public reacts when the economy fluctuates and I thought it related to these books.
I would say it does! Now I’m starting to rethink my topic! Oh well, that’s what this weekend will be for. Do you know a lot about economics?
A little. I took a class last semester that included a pretty broad overview of how the economy works. I think I might even go into Economics at college!
It sounds like you would be amazing at that. Have you thought about what schools you’re going to apply to yet?
Not yet. I’m still just looking into different programs at a few places. Honestly, I think I might want to take a year off and work first. College just seems like such a huge step.
I know, right! I can’t believe that this time next year we’ll be college students!
Mr. Phillips told our class the other day that if he could re-do college he would have taken time off between highschool and college. I think it was good advice.
Do you like Mr. Phillips? I know a lot of people find his teaching style a bit overbearing.
It can be. He is incredibly intense, and I swear he can go on five minutes without taking a breath! So far, I’m liking his classes.
Well, you must be pretty intense yourself to keep up with Mr. Phillips. So, I guess we’re both going to be working on our essays this weekend to get them in on time. Where do you do you like to do your homework?
I usually just do it at home.
That’s too bad. I was hoping you would mention a cafe where I could conveniently run into you…
Ha! Well, my friend Heather and I do study at the coffee shop on Station St. on Saturdays sometimes.
That’s a nice one. Maybe I’ll see you there on Saturday! I should run though, we’re going to be late for our next class!
You’re right! See you around!
