  1. 1
Go to Mushgrove Swamp. Mushgrove is one of the main islands that is overgrown with swampy plants and large mushrooms. You'll see a bunch of abandoned and broken infrastructure along with a watchtower holding a guard. This guard will warn you that it's illegal to fish on this island, but he won't stop you.
    • Make sure it's night time, the weather is foggy or rainy, and it’s the Spring season. These conditions must be met if you want to fish up an Alligator. If any of these conditions aren't met, you won't reel one in.
    • If it isn't currently night time, you can use a Sundial Totem to speed up the process. These can be purchased in the hidden cave on Sunstone Island for 2,000 currency. Once you use a Sundial Totem, you should see the announcement message: "(Your display name) Used a Sundial Totem to speed up the celestial cycle".
  2. 2
Find the Alligator's abundance. In Fisch, an abundance is an event where a type of fish spawns in excess. You'll have a better chance at catching an Alligator in the abundance, which can be found near the abandoned boat within the lake. The area should be highlighted by a rectangle, so you can find it without the use of a fish radar.
  3. 3
Cast your rod. The Alligator is a Legendary fish that can weigh up to 450 kg, so it's recommended to use a rod that can take this weight. If you have trouble with the minigame on other rare types of fish, you may want one with a good enchantment.
    • You can enchant rods by purchasing an enchantment relic and taking it to the cave underneath the Statue of Sovereignty. Some enchantment relics can be purchased from the NPC Merlin on Sunstone Island.
  4. 4
Reel in the Alligator. When the fish is hooked, you'll see a gold exclamation point (!) above your character's head and you'll hear a bell sound, similar to other Legendary fish.
    • If you don't reel in an Alligator, you can cast your rod back in to try again.
    • If you catch an Alligator successfully, you'll see one of the following catch quips:
      • "WOAH!!"
      • "OH MY GOD!!"
      • "AN ALLIGATOR!"
      • "WHAT???"
