How do I give myself a luxurious makeover at home?
The first step is getting clear on how you want to look and feel. Journal a bit. How do you want to feel? Also how do you want to be perceived when you walk into a room. Then take a few steps to change up your look. Save images of things you like. Hairstyles, clothes, makeup. Simple changes make a large impact. Try something different than what you typically do. Play with different colors, try a semi permanent hair dye. Incorporate a new print into your look. Play with a new silhouette. Sign up for a clothing rental company like Rent The Runway to try styles without committing to buying new items. See how you feel in the pieces.
I want a new aesthetic! How do I start?
Scarves and brooches! These items are small but can make your look feel new and fresh! You can wear a scarf around your neck, under the lapels of a blazer or tied on a handbag. Brooches are a fun way to make a tried and true piece feel updated. You can also incorporate your personality with these items. Love the outdoors? Add a pretty insect brooch to your jacket or coat.
What's your aesthetic? I got cottagecore.
Create an inspiration board. Start to save images to see what you're drawn to. Once you have about 15 images saved, look for a common theme. Is it a color or texture or items that is in all the images? This is an easy way to see a visual for what you are drawn to. Also start taking note of how you feel when you put on an outfit. What makes you feel comfortable and confident and get curious on why. Is it the fit? Is it the color? Also, you can look at people around you and what they are wearing. What do you like? What do you dislike? Learning more about your preferences will make it easier to move forward with your style.
