Throughout the winter season in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, your town will be covered in snow. During this time, you can build snowmen in your town. Building snowmen can mean you get exclusive furniture, as well as having a temporary decoration in your town. To find out how to build a snowman, read on!

Steps

  1. 1
Wait for the winter season. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the winter season is characterised by the snow on the ground. It is only during winter that you will be able to find snowballs and build a snowman. Winter starts in late November and ends on February the 25th. [1] The only time you will find snowballs on the ground (and thus be able to build snowmen) is between the 11th of December to the 14th of February. [2] If you don't want to wait, you can always skip to winter.
    • If it is snowing, but there is no snow on the ground (just before winter), you will not be able to build a snowman.
  2. 2
Locate a snowball. You will find them on the ground in your town, but not on pavement, dirt, or the beach. There will only be two snowballs at a time, but you can generate more if one fails by saving or entering a building. [3]
    • Where the snowball is located is randomly generated. [4]

  3. 3
Push it around the snow. The snowball will start off relatively small, and your character will be kicking it. Once it is big enough, your character will use their hands, and you will have more control over it.
    • Beware of obstacles! If possible, try to declutter your town as much as possible; anything that your character can't walk through will destroy the snowball if pushed against. This includes buildings, trees, public works projects, hillsides, ponds, and rivers. It may also fall off a cliff and get destroyed.
      • Flowers and other items on the ground will not affect your snowball.
    • Pushing the snowball around on pavement or dirt will decrease the snowball in size, be sure to push it around the snow as much as possible.
    • Hitting a snowball with a shovel is a guaranteed way to destroy it. [5]
    • Nothing stops you from rolling it around the same area of snow the whole time; the snow does not get used up.
    • You are best off putting your equipment into your pockets, and it is easier to control the ball this way.
  4. 4
Find another snowball and push it around again until it has reached its ideal size. Try to move the snowball as close to the other snowball as possible to make it easier to assemble it.
    • Snowballs will disappear if you quit without making them into a snowman. Because of this, you must get both snowballs right in one go.
    • The easiest way to regenerate snowballs is to save and continue.
  5. 5
Push the smaller snowball into the larger snowball. If both snowballs are big enough, the smaller snowball will go on top of the larger snowball. Depending on the size of both the snowballs, you may create a snowman, a snowmam, a snowboy, or a snowtyke, with the snowman being the biggest and the snowtyke being the smallest.
    • The snow figure will melt in four days. [6]
    • To create a perfect snow figure, the snowball you put on top should be slightly smaller than the other one. [7]
    • It is possible to put the larger snowball on-top of the smaller snowball, but then the snow figure will complain and hate its life (no, seriously).
    • If nothing happens when you push them together, this means that one or both of the snowballs are too small. Roll them around some more, then try again.
  6. 6
Do what the snow figure asks for rewards. To get the exclusive furniture, you must complete tasks that the snow figure wants you to. If you don't, nothing will happen, but you won't get any furniture.
    • If the snowman is made perfectly, he will ask you to play bingo with him. You will receive a bingo card, which you cannot get rid of until February the 25th. The card has 24 numbers, plus a "free spot" in the middle. You can speak to the snowman daily until he melts, and he will give you a number (1-50 [8] ). If you get five numbers in a row, you get a bingo, and you will be rewarded with a piece of furniture from the ski series. [9]
      • You can get more numbers a day by going to friends' towns and speaking to any snowmen in their town.
      • The chances of the snowman calling out a number you don't have are very small.
      • Each player can only hold one bingo card at a time.
      • You will not get a bingo if inventory is full.
      • Even if you get more than one bingo (for example, vertically, horizontally, and diagonally), you will still only get one piece of furniture.
      • Imperfect snowmen will not play bingo. [10]
    • If made perfectly, the snowmam will ask for three snowflakes. If made imperfectly, she will ask for five snowflakes. For every three (or five) snowflakes given, she will give you a piece of ice furniture. Snowflakes are occasionally seen flying in your town (regardless of whether or not it is snowing [11] ) in the winter and can be caught with a net. [12]
      • You can give as many snowflakes as you want daily.
      • You will not be given duplicates of ice furniture unless you already have the full set.
      • If you don't offer the snowmam enough snowflakes, she will offer to take them, giving no reward. [13]
    • The snowboy will not ask for any favours, but if made perfectly, or if it's the first time making a snowboy, you will receive a piece of furniture from the snowman series in the mail the day after. [14]
    • The snowtyke will ask you to make three more snow people to get a reward. The reward you receive depends on how well-formed the other snow figures are. [15]
      • If all four (including the snowtyke) are well-formed, you will receive a snow matryoshka.
      • You will receive a snow bunny if the snowtyke is well-formed, as well as two others.
      • You will get a small igloo if the snowtyke and one other is well-formed.
      • If only the snowtyke is well-formed, you will get a sleigh.

      Tips

      • The snowman is the biggest, the snowboy is the second biggest, the third biggest is the snowmam, and the smallest is the snowtyke. [16] The bigger you want your snow figure, the more effort you'll have to put in.
      • How it is made will determine the snowman's personality. If made well, it will be more confident and content; if made disproportionate, it won't be as happy. [17]
      • You will receive an item of furniture from the snowman series in your mailbox after it melts away. [18] You will not get any duplicates unless you have every item in the series.
