Mudbray is a Ground-Type Pokémon, first introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon. At level 30, it evolves into the also Ground-Type Pokémon, Mudsdale. [1] Figuring out how to catch a Mudbray can be a bit difficult, especially if you’re new to the game. Fortunately, this wikiHow will teach you how to catch Mudbray in Pokémon Sun and Moon.

Steps

  1. Mudbray’s Catch Rate is slightly higher than average, [2] so a few Great Pokéballs should successfully catch Mudbray (be sure, however, to bring multiple Pokéballs with you, in case your first attempt at catching Mudbray is unsuccessful).
    • You can also bring a few Quick Balls with you in case you’d like to attempt to catch Mudbray immediately when the encounter first begins.
  2. Since Mudbray is a Ground-Type Pokémon, it is weak to those types of moves. [3]
    • Mudbray is immune to Electric-Type moves, unless it is holding a Ring Target, in which case it is damaged normally by Electric-Type moves, so be sure to keep that in mind. [4]

  3. In Pokémon Sun and Moon, there are a few possible locations where you can find Mudbray, and they include on Routes 4, 6, and 12, as well as at Painola Ranch and Blush Mountain. [5]
    • Mudbray’s encounter rate is around the same at all of these locations, though it is a little higher on Painola Ranch, so you may want to head there if you’re having trouble finding Mudbray at the other locations.
  4. This will make catching Mudbray a lot easier. You can use Water, Grass and/or Ice-Type Pokémon, or you can also use moves such as False Swipe, which are guaranteed to leave the Pokémon it’s used on with at least 1 HP.
  5. It may take a couple tries, but eventually, you should be able to successfully catch Mudbray.
    • If you’re using a Quick Ball, be sure to throw it at the very beginning of the encounter, before any moves so that it has the best chance of catching Mudbray.

      Tips

      • If you want your Mudbray to evolve, but don’t want to use it in battle, that’s okay. Simply leave Mudbray in your party, and make sure your Exp. Share (obtained from the Trainer’s School) is turned on. This will allow Mudbray to still gain some EXP, even if it’s not battling.
      • As its health gets lower, Mudbray may occasionally call in another Pokémon for help. If that happens, you’ll need to defeat the second Pokémon that appeared before you’re allowed to catch Mudbray.
