Resetting a Forgotten Password

  1. This button is under the Log in button. On desktop, the button text is blue, and on mobile, the button text is gray.
  2. If your phone number or email isn't associated with your Facebook account, you won't be able to use that to find your account.
    • On desktop, you can type either the email or number into the field.
    • On mobile, you can enter a number by default. Tap Search by email instead to enter your email address.
  3. Once Facebook has found your account, it will bring you to a page showing you the name on the account and the account's icon. If it's correct, click Continue to get a login code or Try another way to try something else.

    A lot of sites require the 1 number, 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter, and a special character, but that can be kind of difficult to remember. If you have a choice, I'm a fan of using a phrase, like "fuzzywuzzybear" or something like that. The longer it is, the better.

    You'd think it would involve a bunch of symbols and numbers or something, but it's just the length really. The longer your password is, the harder it will be for some random person to guess. Computer algorithms can actually guess a shorter, complicated password fairly quickly. A longer password may take hundreds of years for a program to guess.
