The Lyft Driver app gives you choices to use for navigation apps - you just have to open up and make the changes. This wikiHow will help you switch your chosen navigation app as a Lyft Driver.

Steps

  1. 1
Open up the Lyft Driver app. The app icon has a white border with a pink steering wheel inside it.
  2. 2
Don't go online quite yet. You can't change your navigation choice once you've accepted a trip. If you do, you must wait for your ride to finish.
    • If you later select the wrong choice inside the ride, you can change your choice for that trip only when you open the app itself.

  3. 3
Tap your profile icon in the top left corner once you are logged in.
  4. 4
Tap the "Navigation" choice. You'll find this between "Vehicle" and "Help".
    • You can also find the resultant page (next) if you select "Settings" and then tap the "Navigation" choice
  5. 5
Check your navigation app. Look for the Navigation line at the very top that could either have "Lyft Navigation built with Google Maps", "Waze", or "Google Maps" in it. This is your navigation app choice. If the selected choice is wrong for your way of navigation, tap the line and tap the choice you'd like to change it to.
    • Lyft Driver doesn't support the use of Apple Maps.
  6. 6
Decide if you want to have your device automatically switch to your navigation app. If not, you'll see most of the address first and then use the Navigate button to switch into your navigation app. You'll find this setting listed as "Auto-switch to navigation".
    • If the switch is turned on, once you accept a trip, your app will send the data to the navigation app and away you go for each portion of the trip.
    • If the switch is turned off, once you accept a trip, your app will show the address of the locations for pickup and later drop-off, and you'll need to tap "Navigation" to actually start the directions in your navigation app.
  7. 7
Decide if you'd like to turn the navigation audio on. The "Audio settings" line has three choices: "All audio", "Alerts only", and "No audio".
    • These settings are only applicable if you use "Lyft Navigation built with Google Maps"; its functions and voices are similar to Google Maps, but offered within Lyft Driver.
  8. 8
Decide if you'd like Lyft Driver to automatically send audible navigation alerts to your car's speakers (if available). On the line saying "Bluetooth audio navigation", if enabled, your alerts will go right through to your speakers. If disabled, this will not go through your car's speakers but instead will go through your phone's internal speakers.
  9. 9
Tap the < or three-dots button in the top left corner to save your choices.
  10. 10
Check your navigation and audio choices inside the next ride. If you need to change anything, you can go offline again to do so. If you like how it works, you can tell Lyft to put you back online and continue to accept trips with these settings enabled.
